Dowager HE Confronts The Emperor

ZHAO Guang Yi names himself the successor, after his brother, the Emperor, dies under suspicious circumstances. Before ZHAO can order the execution of his nephew to secure his position, his nephew commits suicide. Hearing of the tragedy, the Dowager HE, accompanied by her younger son, bravely confronts the new Emperor in the palace court. The Dowager quarrels with anger and sadness until ZHAO promises to provide protection and privilege to her and her son.

Dream In A War-Torn Era

A woman dreams of her husband returning from the army. She is very happy to see him, as they had been married only three days before his husband was sent away to fight in war. They share wine while conversing with one another.

Suddenly, four soldiers appear and take away her husband. In vain, she chases them, arriving suddenly on the battlefield. She is horrified at the sight of the many dead and wounded. Abruptly, she wakes up and realizes it was only a dream.

A Sorrowful Departure

XUE Ping Gui has successfully tamed a wild horse using strength and strategy. The Emperor was so impressed that he conferred the title of grand marshal to XUE. But XUE is then recommended to be a vanguard warrior for the upcoming Xi Liang battle by his father-in-law, who was very opposed to XUE's marriage with his daughter. This except shows XUE returning home to bid farewell to his beloved wife WANG Bao Chuan. They regretfully said goodbye without knowing when they will see each other again. Their hearts bleed with tears in this sorrowful departure.
